Discover.Have you used portfolios in your classroom before? The downside of traditional portfolios is that often the reigns are in the hands of the teacher, and this can make it cumbersome to maintain student portfolios. Meet Seesaw! Seesaw is a digital portfolio for the 21st Century teacher and his/her students. After capturing their own work, students are able to use drawing, writing, and/or voice-recording tools to add context, explain something or reflect on their learning. Get inspired by watching Seesaw's introduction below and checking out their activity ideas via their Pinterest page. Learn.Below is a step-by-step tutorial that Seesaw created to support teachers in building their classroom accounts. My favorite part is that students do not need to have 1-to-1 access to devices for successful implementation. Instead, students can scan their classroom QR code and locate their individual portfolios. (Tip: laminate or frame your classroom account QR code and put it somewhere easily accessible to students.) And don't worry, teachers still have the final say of what gets saved in the portfolios via a teacher approval feature. In addition to the video below on setting up classroom accounts, there are many other tutorials (i.e. how to involve parents) that you can access by visiting Seesaw's YouTube account. Do.Seesaw created a calendar to support teachers in seamlessly rolling out digital portfolios in their classrooms. Use their proposed calendar with links to MANY helpful video tutorials, check out free upcoming webinars and back to school resources, or just give it a go to get started!
